eTA Canada is an electronic travel authorization that permits citizens from visa-exempted countries to enter Canada by air and stay there for leisure, business, and transit purposes.
The government of Canada launched the Canadian eTA in May 2016 to make the visa application process easier for people from eligible countries: attending a diplomatic mission in person is now unnecessary, and the entire procedure is online.
Later, in June 2023, the eTA Canada facilitation became available for citizens of 13 new countries, with the Philippines among them.
The Canadian eTA is currently issued for Philippine citizens as a multiple-entry visa that stays effective for 5 years or until the applicant's passport expires. While the eVisa to Canada remains valid, Filipinos can have an unlimited number of visits for up to 180 days each.
eTA Canada application process from the Philippines includes a few simple steps that involve providing personal and travel information in the form on the website, covering the fees, and receiving the approved online visa to Canada via email.
To meet the requirements for an eTA to Canada, Filipinos must have not only a valid passport but either a US nonimmigrant visa or a Canadian visa at any point within the 10 years before their current trip to Canada.
