eTA Canada online application process

The application process for an eTA Canada is simple and uncomplicated. Anyone with a device connected to the internet can apply for a Canadian eTA without issues within a few minutes.

Since you do not have to schedule an appointment with a Canadian embassy, you have the freedom to apply from any comfortable place - just prepare your device and required documents to proceed with the application process:

  1. Complete the form. Choose ‘Apply Online’ on our website and enter the requested details into the boxes. You will be asked to provide your passport, personal, contact, and travel information. Double-check the form to make certain there are no errors or incomplete boxes.
  2. Upload the necessary documentation. Attach the digital copies of decent quality.
  3. Pay the fees and await approval. You will have to cover the online visa costs using available online payment options. Once approved, your eTA Canada will be delivered to your inbox, so make sure to check your email account regularly.

Note: Right upon covering the fees, you will receive a confirmation code to check the status of your eTA Canada application during processing. If the code did not arrive, please reach out to our support team so we can solve the issue.

The approved Canada eTA will be sent as a PDF document. While it is electronically connected to your passport, we still advise you to make a paper copy and take it with you to the airport and immigration control.

Supporting documents for the eTA Canada application

All travelers must prepare the following document for their Canada eTA application:

  • a passport (must remain effective for at least 6 months from the planned day of arrival)

Also, citizens of the Philippines (as well as other 12 countries who lately became eligible for an eTA to Canada) are required to attach one of these additional mandatory documents:

  • a valid US nonimmigrant visa
  • a Canadian Visitor Visa held at any point in the 10 years before the future travel to Canada

Canadian eTA processing time

Applying for an eTA Canada itself takes only a few minutes - the application steps are uncomplicated. Still, Filipino travelers then have to wait for their applications to be processed.

The Canadian eTA processing time may last from several minutes to hours and mainly depends on the Government of Canada.

The factors influencing the duration of processing and causing delays include:

  • the volume of applications requiring to be processed at the moment
  • the submission time - if the application was submitted during national or bank holidays, you need to wait longer
  • technical issues - sometimes, the official website of the Canadian Government face issues that also extend the processing time
  • the accuracy of the application - if the details contain mistakes or incomplete boxes, we will additionally request an applicant to provide lacking information; in this case, a speedy reply from a traveler can help avoid delays.
